Romans 12:10 (English Standard Version) says: "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." That doesn't mean we're in a competition, but that our love and appreciation for one another should not depend on how much others have shown love and appreciation to us. By having a family or an individual to focus on each month, we can obey the scripture on this point, and train ourselves to be the loving people Jesus calls us to be. Why not consider doing the same thing for someone who is unchurched that you do this month for the PGCF "Family of the Month.," and see how they respond to the love of Jesus shown through you?
The Blanco's are our family of the month. Do something to express your appreciation to them for their faithfulness to PGCF, and to show them what they mean to you! Don't forget about Tyler at Geneva College. His address is on the bulletin board.
October of each year is "Pastor Appreciation Month," Steve and Barbara have been enjoying many kindnesses from folks in the church -- everything from beautiful cards to special notes to firewood. Last weekend (Oct. 16-19) they attended the Allegheny District Pastors' and Wives' Retreat in Ohio, with more than a dozen other couples in ministry. The special speaker was John Herman, director of the office of Pastoral Care at the headquarters of the EFCA in Minneapolis.
The Jim and Darla Roberts family (including twins Alexis and Trenton) are key parts of our church. Find a way to be a blessing to all of them!
Mark attends faithfully, and is a tremendous encouragement to everyone at PGCF. Let's all be an encouragement to Mark -- especially this month. Mark works at the Ellwood National Forge in Irvine and lives near the church at 607 South Main Street in Russell.
Find a creative way to surprise Bob and Betty Johnson this month. Their address is 533 Peterson Hollow Rd. (off Valentine Run) in Russell. Phone: 757-4528.
